Besides, the state is also known for its diverse flora and fauna. The state houses a large number of national parks and wildlife sanctuaries. Its diverse topography ranging from desert to green forest and hill ranges to wetland provides ideal conditions to inhabit a large variety of plants and animals. Rajasthan also offers various jungle safaris to its tourists to enjoy the richness of its wildlife.

Major Wildlife Sanctuary in Rajasthan
Rajasthan has several wildlife sanctuaries and parks that are known worldwide for their diverse variety of flora and fauna. Sanctuaries like Ranthambore National Park, Sariska National Park, Keoladeo Ghana National Park, and Desert National Park are home to a variety of wildlife including some rare endangered species.

Ranthambore National Park Rajasthan
Located in the Sawai Madhopur district, the Ranthambore National Park was established in the year 1955. In 1973, it came under the Project Tiger Scheme and was declared a national park in 1980. With an area of 1334 sq. km., the park houses a range of wildlife including the tiger. It is one of the best places to spot tigers in the broad day light. Besides, one can also see chital, leopard, nilgai, chinkara, wild boar, sambars, and sloth bear on a large number. The park is also home to around 270 bird species including several migratory. Best time to visit is between Octobers to April.

Sariska Tiger Reserve Rajasthan
The tiger reserve was established in the year 1958 and came under the Project Tiger Scheme in 1979. Spanning over an area of 800 sq. km., the park houses tigers, leopard, chital, four-horned antelope, wild dogs, chinkara or Indian gazelles etc. November to June is the ideal time to visit the sanctuary.

Keoladeo Ghana National Park
It is one of the best known bird sanctuaries of India located in the Bharatpur district. It is home to a large variety of bird species including thousands of migratory. It offers a chance to see a number of migratory birds including some from Siberia and China. Some important bird species of the park, which can be spotted easily, include cranes, egrets, pelicans, stork, eagles, grey horn etc. October to March and July to August is the most suitable period to visit the park.

Desert National Park
It was established in 1980 to preserve the desert ecosystem. Due to its close proximity to the Thar Desert the Desert National Park of Jaisalmer has a unique wildlife species. Spread over an area of 3150 sq. km., the park houses a large number of chinkara, blackbuck, desert fox, wolves, snakes and lizards with a wide variety of rare and exotic birds.

Gajner Wildlife Sanctuary
This 10 sq. km. long wildlife sanctuary is located at a distance of 32 km from Bikaner. It has a good number of wildlife species including desert cats, desert fox, chinkara and blackbuck. Best time to visit is between Octobers to March.
