About Sariska Wildlife sanctuary : Sariska is covered with dry deciduous forests and was declared as a sanctuary in 1955 and later a National park in 1979. The landscape is dominated with sharp cliffs of hills and narrow valleys of the Aravallis. The relics of medieval temples of Garh-Rajor, belonging to the 10th and 11th centuries are found in the Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary.
Wildlife Attractions in Sariska Wildlife sanctuary :Tiger, nilgai, wild-boar, fox, gaur, sambar, chital, hyena, four horned antelope, jungle cat Leopard, Wild Dog, Jungle Cat, Hyena, Jackal, and Tiger are the various animals found in the national park. An abundance of prey species such as Sambar, Chittal, Nilgai, Chausingha, Wild Boar and Langur form the food of these animals. A large population of Rhesus Monkeys, which are found in large numbers around Talvriksh is now found in Sariska Wildlife sanctuary. The various species of the birds include Peafowl, Grey Partridge, Bush Quail, Sand Grouse, Tree Pie, Golden backed Wood Pecker, Crested Serpent Eagle and the Great Indian Horned Owl.
How to Reach Sariska Wildlife sanctuary : Jaipur is the nearest airport from Sariska at a distance of 107 km. The nearest railway station is at Alwar (37-kms). Sariska is well connected with Alwar, which is further directly connected with bus services from Delhi and Jaipur. |
